Interesting find! It's really a shame that more isn't known. Whilst it's easily possible that those differences in clicks are indicative of personal riffs or 'names', it could just as easily come down to differences in 'pronunciation' of a group riff. If you recorded five individuals saying "Hello" for instance, you'd have the same issue of a superficially identical vocal pattern, but closer analysis would illustrate that there are subtle differences that would identify each speaker. Exciting nevertheless!

Well, their military technology comes almost exclusively from the US and France. I guess the excessive size of their budget reflects the sheer amount of military hardware they keep running. It would've been interesting to see a statistic for the proportion of military personnel to total population, in addition to the bare figures.

Kinda skewed that only 'big budgets' were included in that list, hence no appearance of Israel at the top of the list. I read somewhere recently that despite heading the world rankings for military expenditure in terms of GDP, 2010 was a record even for them! And in comparison to Saudi Arabia's military expenditure, Israel really has pumped a lot into local defence technology outfits.

Wow guys!!!!! I was always wondering what those messages were that I was always receiving in my inbox in Mandarin... I thought they were spam!!!

I was fooling around on my blog, and I finally ran all your comments through the Google translator...

When I read them, I was stunned, absolutely stunned! They were not spam, they were copious messages of encouragement from sweet people on the other side of the world from me!!! You had been helping me all along!!!!!!

I was trying to make my blog something different, something more serious... Maybe I should just go back to posting about my life? Would that be better?

German isn't quite as global a language, though it certainly does possess linguistic devices that are quite handy. But who is asking them not to retain their system? Certainly not I.

In business, English is/was fairly universal. It could get supplanted by Spanish and/or Mandarin (or Russian, or German... my crystal ball broke, can't see the future anymore ;) sometime relatively soon. But Latin wasn't ousted as a business (i.e. church) language for centuries, and it's hard to compare the two.

Esperanto is a useful, general tool if you can't resort or learn a lot of other languages. But I wouldn't recommend it learned to be used on a regular basis, or in replacement of other languages. I speak six so Esperanto would be a bit superfluous, I think.

Meh, context is everything. Few of us pronounce our capital letters, and you can find arguments for capitalisation of all kinds. Germans can similarly come up with plenty of arguments for retaining their current system, for making it clear if they're talking about "der gefangene Floh" or if it's more interesting to know that "der Gefangene floh".
